The Winton SuperSprint is almost here, marking the 30th anniversary of this track hosting the Australian Touring Car Championship/ V8 Supercars and the 3rd race in the Dunlop calendar.
The newly reassembled no.7 car will require a bit of fine tuning after its first track appearance post Clipsal. The team had worked hard to rebuild the car from the ground up to be able to compete in the Perth SuperSprint 2 weeks ago.
Perth’s practice sessions on the Friday saw a few minor issues with the car including an oil leak and smoking rear tyre. However some quick fixes during a red flag had us back out there in no-time and Brett Hobson managed to finish the car in 19th position.
Our luck was short lived for Saturday’s qualifying and Race 1 as the car presented more surprises during the race. Struggles with braking and a loose back kept us back of the pack, whilst a loose tail plate had us black flagged. Watch Brett’s interview here.
After an all-nighter Saturday, Brett and the team were back on the track for Race 2 & 3 with dusty track conditions making it difficult for everyone. A full recording of race telemetry during race 2 gave the team the information they needed to make a few adjustments to the car and by race 3 we had finished the race in 19th position.
Overall another great effort by Brett and the RSport Race team who put in the extra hours to keep the car on the track. Can’t wait to see what the upcoming weekend will bring!
