Kiss is Back

After recently announcing his withdrawal from Nandi Kiss Racing as driver, Sydney’s Nandi Kiss has surprisingly agreed to return to the wheel for the second round of the Dunlop Series at Barbagallo Raceway late next month.

“We’ve come to a mutual agreement with Chris Alajajian to release him from his arrangement with NKR effective from today,” explains Kiss, “there are no hard feelings but Chris has made the decision not to continue beyond his first round with us at The Clipsal 500.”

Alajajian had a challenging return to competition in Adelaide after a two-year hiatus but Kiss was pleased with the improvement the young Sydneysider had made over the course of the weekend.

“Personally I’d love Chris to have gone on to Barbagallo and feel his way into the car again,” says Nandi, “he was definitely coming to grips with the car and the way our team works. I think he would have been right where he and we needed him by the end of Round Two.”

So for now, Kiss will return to the driving duties unless a replacement driver is found.

“It’s definitely my plan to get back in the seat if we don’t find a replacement driver by Perth,” Nandi explains, “The show must go on. At this stage we haven’t spoken to any drivers about taking the wheel so for the moment I’m re-shuffling my business commitments so that I can give the driving the attention it requires. These cars take a strong commitment to fitness and your mental approach needs to be spot on. I’ve always enjoyed driving these cars, but I think my longer-term future in the category is as a car owner. We’ll see I guess.”

Kiss believes there are a couple of key points that will work in his favour.

“At least I’ve done all the tracks on this year’s calendar so I have a benchmark to work beyond and with the Kelly Holden engine we put in the car this year that has 40 more horsepower than our old engine program I’m looking forward to better personal results than last year.”

More information in the lead up to Barbagallo Raceway for Round Two of the 2013 Dunlop Series for Nandi Kiss Racing will follow in weeks ahead…
